IWC Schaffhausen created its line of instruments for airborne celestial navigation over 80 years ago. The Pilot’s watch range is now one of the company’s most popular and versatile collections. This rugged, reliable pilot’s watch features the classic black dial with white Arabic numerals placed around the hour track. The iconic triangular index takes residence at 12 o’clock, protected underneath a sheet of sapphire glass integrated with anti reflective and scratch resistant technology. This men’s IWC Pilot’s Watch spans a total diameter of 36mm on the wrist. Its compact 60 meter water resistant stainless steel design is home to the in house designed Calibre 35111 which provides a useful 42 hour power reserve. The movement is equipped with 163 individual hand assembled components and surrounded by a soft-iron inner cage for protection against magnetic fields.
The special sapphire glass is secured against displacement by drops in air pressure, and the specially engraved caseback depicts the image of a fighter plane upon its surface. To finish, IWC Schaffhausen chooses to equip this timepiece with a rugged stainless steel bracelet which secures with a folding clasp and a security push piece mechanism. This 36mm IWC Pilot’s Watch was inspired by the Pilot's Watch Mark XVIII but also returns to the size of original Mark 11 navigation wristwatch.
